Stuart Kind Memorial Lecture

Stuart Kind Memorial Lecture: The Truth has many Aspects.
Professor James Robertson, National Centre for Forensic Studies (NCFS) University of Canberra.
In his message from the President for the 1984 IAFS conference Stuart Kind used the phrase “truth has many aspects “, to point out that the “truth “ that one person perceives will differ at least one detail from the “truth “ perceived by anyone else and that the value of a conference such as the IAFS meeting was that it helped identify common ground. He saw the value of a multidisciplinary meeting as identifying opportunities for developing unifying concepts. Stuart had only recently retired from the then Home Office Forensic Science Service and was free to speak his mind - as ever his employment stopped him from so doing – and he certainly did not miss the opportunity of his plenary presentation to tell the audience of his concerns about how forensic science was evolving at that time.
So today, what might Stuart be thinking about how forensic science has evolved in the almost three decades since his retirement?
