The FSSoc endeavours to provide an exciting and inclusive conference programme in order to encourage:
- individual professional development
- communication between professionals
- collaborations between organisations and professionals
FSSoc Conferences
Conferences are a pivotal part of the Society's work. Over many years the Society has organised many successful conferences, be it weekend conferences or one day seminars. The Society's conference strategy has evolved and the Society now aims to hold more one day focused events, such as the hugely successful DNA, Body Fluids and Toxicology conferences.
For those that prefer the variety of topics covered in a weekend conference, one weekend meeting remains, this will coincide with the AGM which is held in early November.
We feel strongly that this strategy will ensure delegates get the most out of the conference as each one will aim to be focused, relevant and timely.
Young Forensic Scientist Seminars (YFSS)
The FSSoc also convenes YFSS conferences, which are specifically designed to target forensic scientists who are new to the profession and encourage them to enagage with the Society and think about their continued professional development. These conferences tend to be focused on a particular field of forensic science and often contain a large workshop element.
Student Conferences
Student conferences aim to provide an overview of forensic professions, particularly the roles relating to crime scene investigation, fingerprint examination, forensic biology and forensic chemistry.
These are often held in December at one of the Society's accredited universities.
